Most of the dogs in our program are Labrador retrievers, golden retrievers, or mixes. They are between the ages of eight weeks and two years of age and come from a variety of sources including private breeders, pet home donations, other service dog organizations, shelters and rescues, and Assistance Dogs’s own breeding program. Assistance Dogs uses science-driven training techniques that empower the dogs to engage in the learning process with the volunteers and trainers in order to achieve high quality results.
