Zach Cotton took part in The Ability Center’s Next Steps Summer Program in 2017 ready to increase his independence and learn how to navigate college on his own.
He shares, “The Next Steps Summer Program helped me get ready for dorm life and it also served as practice to become more social and make new friends. I am currently at Heidelberg University and am loving the dorm life and new friends thanks to this program.” Zach is focused on studying for classes in his major Computer Science but leaves time for fun and activities in his busy college schedule.
“I am having fun working and studying Computer Science. I try to find time to hang out with my friends. Also, during the summer, I got an opportunity to compete in the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games for the whole state of Ohio delegation with 3 other swimmers. I placed 1st in the 50m freestyle, 2nd in the 50m backstroke, and 2nd again in the 4*25m free relay.”
Our Next Steps Summer Program provides the building blocks to succeed in life after high school.
