Rachele and Roscoe
Rachele, from Ravenna, OH, lives with spina bifida, but she does not let it slow her down. An animal lover, she is active in horseback riding, softball, and bike riding. Roscoe is a two-year-old black Labrador retriever who will pick up dropped items, grab the phone, and open and close doors. He relieves the anxiety she feels at night. Rachele says, "Roscoe calms me when I feel afraid, helps me with doors, and is my constant friend."
Rachele now spends time home alone without her parents. Her dad used to have to get up in the middle of the night to ease Rachele’s anxiety but now Roscoe is there, she is able to make it through the night alone. Rachele is now applying for jobs and Roscoe will most likely to be accompanying her to work.
