Winter months in Ohio can make it hard to engage in the community however, there are lots of fun options! The Toledo area has many programs offered to meet every interest.

If you have not been able to identify your interests, connect with an ACT staff to complete a recreation and leisure interest survey. Based on the survey, staff can help you set goals to engage in your community.
Interested in connecting with others who share your passion for art?

The Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) provides classes such as painting, glass blowing, and education. TMA offers scholarships to those that may not be able to afford the programs. Additionally, Touch Tours, in collaboration with the Sight Center, are offered. These free tours are designed for individuals who are visually impaired to engage with works of art. Each tour includes the opportunity to touch sculptures in the TMA galleries and have a guided discussion with trained docents.

Unruly Arts is a small studio with a big vision. They are passionate about providing a nurturing, inclusive and joyful environment that supports the artistic visions and needs of people with disabilities. In that environment, authentic artistic expression can come forward. They also provide financial assistance, helping create a more inclusive Toledo.

Looking to explore animals, nature, and science?

With more than 10,000 animals, state of the art Aquarium and new Museum, visiting the Toledo Zoo Looking to explore animals, nature, and science? You can also take an up close look at the animals by checking out their YouTube Channel.

Located in downtown Toledo, Imagination Station, Toledo’s Science Center, is the region’s resource in interactive Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. When you enter the doors of Imagination Station, you will experience hundreds of interactive exhibits, activities and demonstrations that teach vital science concepts. The Imagination Station provides accommodations so that everyone can enjoy the space. Be sure to tinker in the IDEA Lab – you might just create the next great piece of assistive technology!

If enjoying the outdoors is more appealing to you, the Toledo Metroparks Trail Challengers encourages visitors to walk, bike and hike the trails. Those that do can earn special stickers, an eco-friendly water bottle, and an opportunity to learn what the Metroparks have to offer. You will also be able to enter into their private Facebook group to meet others and gain a community of support. Toledo Metroparks has a variety of other programming for all levels of adventure and interest. Accommodations and scholarships are available.

Want to spice things up and learn your way around the kitchen? Foodology has cooking classes for all ages and skill levels from baking cakes or making full course meals.
