One September afternoon, Shelly was having lunch with a friend and learned that the wonderful non-profit organization, The Ability Center, was looking for a Development Assistant. It was an excellent match given Shelly’s desire to do meaningful work along with her background working for multiple northwest Ohio non-profits, volunteer and committee experience along with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Bowling Green State University.
Shelly is married to her husband Bob, and has raised two fur-dog-babies; Lola, who was their first rescue, and Roxi, who would become her little sister. In Shelly’s spare time, she enjoys traveling, genealogy (hopes to meet family some day from the old-country in Germany and Slovakia), nature, photography, and follows the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Detroit Red Wings. She also recently embarked on a new workout regime boxing/kickboxing at 9Round – her fighter name is Bone Crusher.
