Life Skills Coordinator
Shelby Phillips is a student at Bowling Green State University from Mentor, OH. Upon graduation in August 2017, she will receive her bachelors in Human Development and Family Studies. Shelby became familiar with disability at an early age as her mother worked at the Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities. She began volunteering at the age of 12, sharing, “I would help with rec club, prom, adaptive physical education programs, and various fundraising events. I also worked for Adaptive Advantage Summer camp in Mentor before coming to BGSU, and soon after started working as a workshop substitute at Lake County Board of DD.” While attending BGSU, Shelby worked in multiple group homes for Wood Lane Residential Services.
Shelby shares, “I have always had a passion for empowering others to achieve their personal goals and overcome any barriers or obstacles they may face.”
