Help Us Be Successful!
For over 90 years, The Ability Center has been evolving to support people with disabilities, helping them to live active, successful, independent lives.
For The Ability Center to continue to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of our communities, it needs to reach out and raise funds to support its programs. Each year, the Ability Center works to:
- Train and graduate a larger number of assistance dogs and their recipients.
- Increase the number of individuals who receive ramps to make their homes accessible.
- Expand our Nursing Home Transition program that permits individuals with disabilities to return to community living.
- Help more people to learn valuable life skills.
- Engage people with disabilities in community recreation activities.
To better understand our organization and how you can help, here is our Case For Support
If you can help, there are a couple of ways you can provide support:

Making a Donation
The Ability Center has been fortunate through the years to earn the respect and admiration of those who choose to financially support our mission. Individuals have many ways to support the Center, from outright cash gifts to more detailed, planned giving arrangements which provide resources to the Center as part of an estate.
By supporting The Ability Center in your estate plans, you ensure that the resources and support offered by the Center will continue to be available in the future. For more information on how a planned gift can make a difference, please contact your attorney or financial adviser and call The Ability Center at (419) 885-5733.
The Ability Center greatly appreciates all forms of support. Thank you for considering The Ability Center worthy. Here are a few other ways in which you can support the organization.
There are a variety of opportunities to support the Center with specific gifts. For example, the cost to fund an assistance or therapy dog for a year is $20,000. There are also opportunities to fund ramps so that people who can’t use stairs to get in and out of their homes can have access to the community. To have further discussions on how you can make a gift for a specific area, please contact The Ability Center at (419) 885-5733.
The easiest way to assist us financially is to donate using the online donation form on this page. After submitting the amount and the form, you will have the option of using PayPal, or your preferred credit card to make a gift. You can also support Assistance Dogs for Independence by visiting the donation page for the program.
You can send a donation by completing the Pledge Form and including any pertinent information connected with the gift, to:
The Ability Center of Greater Toledo
5605 Monroe Street
Sylvania, OH 43560
If you wish to donate useful, gently-used household items for potential use by our consumers in the Nursing Home Transition program, please contact Chris Daunhauer.
