ACT Encourages You to Make a Difference
The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, as a member of the Ohio Disability Votes Coalition, is working to mobilizing people with disabilities to vote in the November 4 election. People with disabilities, the largest minority in the United States, vote the least often of any minority. If they voted at the same rate as everyone else, people with disabilities would determine the outcome of many elections, and our legislators would have to pay attention to us when making decisions that affect our needs.
YOU CAN HELP!
We would like to hear from you if:
You need help figuring out how to register to vote or where to vote, or finding where to read about issues and candidates.
You would like to vote but are having problems using voting equipment or getting into the buildings used for voting.
You would like to volunteer to help get other people with disabilities registered to vote and educate them about the candidates and issues.
You are active in a political campaign (regardless of which one) and are interested in volunteering to speak at Ability Center events about why you care enough to get involved.
You are a musician or singer and would be interested in performing at Ability Center get-out-the-vote events
You are interested in attending the Ohio Disability Votes Coalition Presidential Candidate forum in Columbus, July 26 – where several candidates will speak - if the Ability Center provides transportation. (Only a total of about 1000 people from around Ohio will be able to see it live.)
Please contact Jessica Weinberg, Get-Out-the-Vote Coordinator at 419-885-5733 or jweinberg@abilitycenter.org
