What a great inspiration. I think your advice can be helpful for both disabled and “able-bodied” people – everyone has issues they are dealing with and with the right approach, almost everything can be overcome. You are proof of that.

I am the past president of the Auxiliary of the Ability Center of Greater Toledo and I know from first hand experience how caring and full of compassion the staff at the Ability Center are. They care about their clients and they care about each other. The programs such as Camp Cricket, Indepedant Living and ILIVE are wonderful examples of reaching out and getting out into the community.

This was the first time I’ve attended an ADA at the Zoo event, but it certainly won’t be my last. Met a lot of great people, and carried home a ton of useful information about what local area organizations are doing to help the disabled. Thank you, everyone, for what you do, and I hope to mention all of you over the course of the coming year in my blog, “From Where I Sit…”

This year 100 disability-related organizations helped The Ability Center bring a very special event to the Northwest Ohio community. As the coordinator of the event, I want to thank everyone who worked to make the event a success! I couldn’t bring it all together without your assistance.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s event, since it will be the 10th ADA Day at the Toledo Zoo!
