Ladies Auxiliary
ACT Auxiliary
Organized in 1936, and re-established in 1984, The Auxiliary to The Ability Center is dedicated to being ambassadors in the community and promoting major fund raisers to support The Center's programs, particularly the Nursing Home Transition Program, Camp Cricket, Ramp Building and Project LIFE.
The Auxiliary plays a pivotal role in assisting ACT in moving persons with disabilities out of nursing homes. The Auxiliary takes a hands-on approach in securing "competitively priced" soft merchandise used in setting up living accommodations.
The Auxiliary also hosts a "Santa Party" every December where children with and without disabilities from Center programs have their picture taken with Santa and receive a gift. Each summer, the Auxiliary provides a cookout for children attending Camp Cricket.
The Auxiliary's major fund raising event is its annual Style Show and luncheon, held each September. Between 400 and 600 women attend this festive event.
