Ability Center Teams up for United Way’s “Day of Caring”

Day of Caring Work Crew

Day of Caring Work Crew

Each year, on one certain day, The United Way brings together corporate volunteers with area agencies who do good work for the community. The International “Day of Caring” is a one-day volunteer event, involving thousands of individuals. It is based on the tremendous needs of beneficiary organizations or communities to receive assistance or to have work done that they are either unable to do themselves or are unable to afford financially. This event helps to raise consciousness about the needs in the Community.

This year, the 20th year of the program, on September 2, members of the Ability Center ramp crew were connected with five volunteers from Medical Mutual of Ohio and one from United Way to build a ramp for a young man who needed one.

Not only did the group have phenomenal weather for the project, they were treated, unexpectedly, to a wonderful lunch from the gentleman’s mom. It’s all about doing for each other; sharing one’s talents, whatever they may be.
